BERDE Renewables, a portfolio company of global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital, has signed a landmark 8.4 MWp Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with KCC Malls and Biotech Farms to deliver clean energy to their key retail and agricultural facilities in Mindanao. Under the zero-CAPEX model, Berde Renewables will fully finance, build, and operate the solar projects. Once operational, the systems are expected to generate approximately 13 million kWh of clean energy annually, resulting in an estimated ₱5.8 million in monthly savings and offsetting 9,600 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. The agreement allows KCC Malls to integrate renewable energy into its operations at its Gensan, Marbel, and Zamboanga locations, while helping Biotech Farms secure reliable power and cut the carbon footprint of its agro-industrial facility in South Cotabato. “This partnership reflects our commitment to making renewable energy a core part of KCC’s growth and modernization,” said Arvin Chan, CEO at KCC Malls. “By integrating clean energy into our operations, we are elevating our standards in retail sustainability while ensuring that our malls remain resilient, efficient, and aligned with the long-term needs of the communities we serve.” “At Biotech Farms, sustainability has always been central to our operations. Adding solar energy to our agro-industrial facility further strengthens our commitment to circular economy principles while ensuring stable, cost-efficient power for our business,” said Rainnyl Chiang, Renewable Energy Director at Biotech Farms, Inc.
