The Halili Cruz School of Dance once again demonstrated its unmatched artistry and excellence in its grand production, “Diversifiera 2025: Forty Unbound,” held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
With a full house and an electrifying atmosphere, the show began promptly at 7 p.m., setting the tone for an unforgettable evening of dance. The audience responded with overwhelming enthusiasm — cheers and thunderous applause echoed throughout the theater, a testament to the caliber and emotional impact of each performance.

True to its title, the showcase celebrated diversity in movement and style. From the refined elegance of classical ballet to the dynamic energy of hip-hop, the production spanned multiple genres, including jazz, lyrical, tap dance, aerial, and acrobatic. Each number stood out as a choreographic masterpiece, marked by creative vision and executed with exceptional precision.

Nearly 500 dancers took the stage, showcasing not only technical skill but also a deep emotional connection to the choreography. The synchronization and mastery — achieved in less than a month of preparation — reflected the discipline and dedication instilled by the school.

The production served as a grand tribute to their mentor and the school’s artistic director, Shirley Halili Cruz, in celebration of her 50th year as a dance educator and the school’s 40th founding anniversary.
