Six senior high school students were injured after a chemical explosion caused a fire in a school in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City on Wednesday afternoon, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said Thursday.
Three of the victims were sent to a hospital while the other three were turned over to their families.
The BFP said the incident at the Globetek Science Foundation Inc. happened around 5:20 p.m. but it was reported to them around 6:12 p.m.
Two fire trucks and one ambulance arrived at the area. Around 6:46 p.m., responders completed their assistance and declared the area safe.
The fire started from an explosion of ethanol in the laboratory room of the school, according to the BFP.
Around P5,000 worth of damage was reported after around 20 square meters of the building were affected by the fire.
