2 nabbed for stealing motorcycles requested by customers

Police apprehended two suspects in Taguig City for allegedly stealing specific motorcycle models and colors based on customer requests.

In an exclusive report by John Consulta on 24 Oras Monday, the suspects were caught in an entrapment operation after a victim discovered his stolen motorcycle being sold online.

Authorities recovered 11 stolen motorcycles and various spare parts during the operation. The stolen items originated from Rizal, Laguna, and Metro Manila and were sold at low prices.

“Kapag may sira yung motosiklo, kanyang chinachop-chop at binebenta piyesa-piyesa. Pero pag maayos naman, kanyang binebenta ng P10,000-P15,000 online,” said Police Brigaider General Paul Kenneth Lucas, Philippine National Police 4A regional director.

(If the motorcycle is damaged, they dismantle it and sell the parts piece by piece. But if it’s in good condition, they sell it online for P10,000 to P15,000.)

“Pinopost nila sa Facebook yung binebenta nilang mga nakaw na motor. At yung mga buyers naman, kung ayaw nila, nagre-request sila kung anong kalseng motor yung kanilang bibilhin. Naghahanap yung sindikato ng motor at kanilang pinapa-deliver in less than 24 hours,” he added.

(They post the stolen motorcycles for sale on Facebook. If buyers want a different model, they request it, and the gang steals the specific motorcycle, delivering it in less than 24 hours.)

The suspects declined to comment on the allegations.

Lucas urged the public not to purchase motorcycles without proper documentation. He also advised those who unknowingly bought stolen motorcycles to surrender them to avoid being charged with carnapping or violating anti-fencing laws.

“Bina-backtrack ng kapulisan kung sino-sino yung mga nakabili at ano yung mga nabili nila,” Lucas said.

(The police are tracing buyers of the stolen motorcycles to identify them and the units they purchased.)

The CALABARZON police called on victims to visit the Taytay police offices to verify if their motorcycles were among the recovered units. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/DVM, GMA Integrated News
