The event took place at SM Cinema Olongapo Central on January 17, 2025 offering a thoughtfully modified theater experience designed to cater to the sensory needs of children with autism. Adjustments included dimmed lighting, reduced audio volume, and the freedom for children to move around, ensuring a comfortable and non-judgmental space for everyone.
Homer Guerrero, ASP Olongapo chapter president thanked SM for conducting such activity, he emphasized that through sensory-friendly screenings, it creates opportunities for families to bond and participate in activities that are often challenging due to sensory sensitivities. “Such commitment promotes awareness, acceptance, and inclusivity for individuals with autism,” he added.
The event featured a screening of Firefly, 2023 movie, a heartwarming Filipino fantasy film that tells the story of a ten-year-old boy, Tonton (Euwenn Mikaell), embarking on a magical quest to find the mythical “Island of Fireflies,” inspired by his mother Elay’s (Alessandra De Rossi) bedtime stories.
