What was the year 2024 like? Let us show you the quick passing of the year in pictures, which, for MindaNews, started when Special Reports Editor Carolyn O. Arguillas handed former President Rodrigo Duterte with the book “Some People Need Killing,” a photograph that immediately went viral. Disasters came once more, with almost a hundred killed in a landslide near a mining site, and thousands affected in a series of floods. Later came the protracted attempt to arrest fugitive Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his co-accused. Aside from the hard news, we present to you the everyday life of the Mindanawons, from jumping into the river to cool off in the middle of the long drought, to making a tourist spot out of Mindanao’s newly inaugurated longest bridge as residents from all over came for a selfie.

Special Reports Editor Carolyn O. Arguillas hands over a copy of Patricia Evangelista’s book “Some People Need Killing” (a detailed account of people killed in the “war on drugs”) to former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (author of the said war) in Davao City after a press conference on Jan. 6. The photo went viral. MindaNews photo
