A seven-year-old was accidentally shot dead by his 13-year-old brother in Manila using their father’s service firearm.
According to a “24 Oras” report by Marisol Abdurahman on Friday, an initial investigation from the Manila Police District’s (MPD) homicide section revealed that the 9-millimeter gun was inside the locker of the father, who was a police officer.
(He was able to open the drawer and find the gun, then for unknown reason, a shot was fired. The bullet hit a cabinet and passed through the next room, where his brother was sleeping.)
The bullet hit the seven-year-old on the left side of his back. He later succumbed to his wound in the hospital.
The father may face administrative and criminal charges due to the incident. He is in police custody.
“Nangyari ‘yan baka pinagkaloob ng Diyos. Walang may gusto nun. [Sa aking anak,] huwag mo sisihin sarili mo,” he said.
(This is probably God’s will. Nobody wanted it to happen. [To my son,] please don’t blame yourself.)
Mahirap tanggapin. Sakit sa kalooban,” he added.
